Welcome to the team, Daniel!

As we approach the holiday season, we welcome our newest intern, Daniel Ross.

Daniel was first introduced to KLC when he met our agency’s founding partner, Anne Lachance, at a networking event last year. Daniel’s keen interest in IR makes him a great addition to the KLC team, but as always, we wanted to get to know him a bit better. Read on to find out more about our new addition!

What Is your secret talent?

Very few people know this, but my secret talent is that I can play the bassoon. For those who don’t know what a bassoon is, it’s a very large woodwind instrument that requires the buzzing of a double reed. I learned in high school and didn’t lose the ability to play over the years. Bassoons cost upwards of $30,000 so I don’t own one, but if someone were to offer me one to play, I would be able to.

What do you hope to learn over your internship?

What I hope to learn the most over my internship is how to work efficiently and confidently in an agency setting. My previous experiences have all been in a corporate environment and I’m grateful for the skills I learned through them, but I can’t wait to learn about agency life. I look forward to learning the art of providing top-notch client services and balancing competing priorities in an effective manner.

What TV series are you into right now?

I’m late to the party on this one, but I’ve recently started watching Riverdale on Netflix. Having grown up reading Archie comics, I was a bit surprised and delighted by the direction they took with the show.  None of the characters look like high school students, the plot is slightly ridiculous, and the dialog is beyond strange, but I can’t stop watching. Does Archie go to jail? I’ll have to keep watching to find out.

What’s the last book you read?

This is going to make me seem like some sort of gluttonous monster, but I love reading cookbooks. I make it a habit to learn a new recipe each day and catalog my favorites. The last book I read was Tyler Florence Fresh, from which I got some amazing ideas.  I’m not 100 per cent sure where you buy quail eggs or stone fruit, but I’ve made it my mission to hunt them down in order to make some of his dishes.

What is one food that you HATE?

It kills me to say that the one food I hate is peaches. Before remembering that I can’t stand them, I took a trip to Niagara Region for the sole purpose of buying fresh peaches. I spent a substantial amount of money and time buying a variety of peach products, baked goods and produce that ultimately ended up going to waste. I got home and immediately realized that the round, fuzzy monsters are way too runny and make my mouth itchy.  I’ll take nectarines over peaches any day!

Welcome to the team Daniel! We are so excited to have you.
