Intro: Launched in 1998, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs.
The brief: In addition to an ongoing PR mandate, Royal LePage sought KLC’s help to rejuvenate the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation’s efforts to spread awareness about domestic violence and raise funds through their annual National Garage Sale for Shelter events.
The outcome: KLC helped to develop and execute a simple, bilingual, national, grassroots media relations strategy, which focused on developing local angles for target media. As a result, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation has earned more than 175 million media impressions and 237 media hits, in outlets across the country. Since this campaign in 2009, over $2.5 million has been raised through the National Garage Sale for Shelter.
